TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE: TYLER WARD / KRYSTA NICOLE

TYLER WARD / KRISTA NICOLE'S  COVER VERSION OF
TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE - BOYS LIKE GIRLS / TAYLOR SWIFT

The immense popularity of YOUTUBE as an entertainment platform transcends the limitations of traditional forms of media. It has provided immediate access to different types of media material that would have otherwise been restricted or worse prevented from being viewed freely by anyone who wishes to do so.

Lately, it has become the favorite venue of unknown but talented artists who upload their materials in the hopes of being discovered for their own merits without going through the nightmarish maze of a promotional bureaucracy.

One such potential artist is Tyler Ward and his friends. If you don't know Tyler, you'll probably recognize him and his crew for their excellent acoustic remake of We Are The World, 2010 for Haiti which are getting excellent reviews since the video was uploaded on 11 February and until this date has already received 464,191 views.

Despite his talent for performing live, Tyler has never been signed by a major record label. This young talent from Aurora, Colorado has released his first self-titled debut album under an independent label. More of his music can be auditioned at reverbnation.

Here is a brief biography of Tyler Ward as described in his own website.

Passion is what drives Tyler Ward to write, produce and perform music; however, music wasn’t always his focus. Encouraged by his father at a young age to pursue athletics, Tyler spent his time working towards scoring touchdowns and winning football games rather than chasing his musical dream.

After completing high school, Tyler was accepted to the United States Air Force Academy where he began his collegiate football career. He never adjusted to the military lifestyle. “I smiled too much,” Tyler says. It was because of his excessive smiling and creative expression that Tyler found himself scrubbing toilets and cleaning floors on the weekends.

Despite the intensive janitorial experience, Tyler decided to move on. He left the Air Force Academy and accepted a scholarship to the University Of Northern Colorado. It was there when Tyler polished his songwriting skills. “I loved writing music in college,” Tyler explains. “I loved it so much that I would get in trouble for skipping classes and football practices to finish up song ideas.” Tyler believes that his songwriting developed as he pursued his journalism degree.

Tyler’s realization of becoming a successful national artist arose when he first started playing with national acts such as The Fray, The Jonas Brothers, Gavin DeGraw, Augustana and Ryan Cabrera. “After that first big show with The Fray, I was sold on doing music for the rest of my life,” Tyler says. Playing shows for thousands of people fueled Tyler’s drive and creativity. It drove him to write and record several demos that have attracted attention throughout the major music industry.

“I love playing music,” Tyler says. “It’s by far the best job I’ve ever had.” Tyler credits his musical talents to his mother, Susan Ward, who is a classically trained musician. Tyler notes, “My mom rocks.”

Krista Nicole of Oregon was only 15 years old on July 15, 2007 when she started to upload some of her own self-arranged vocal performances with her father Scott as acoustic guitarist. She reveals in her description, "I am 15 years old, unsigned, and waiting to be noticed. This is what I want to do." Krista is one of the female lead vocals in the "We Are The World 2010" acoustic remake recently uploaded by Tyler. More of her acoustic cover performances can be viewed at her own Youtube site and also at her own website.

Meantime, Tyler and his friends are busy concentrating on doing cover tracks of other established artists and putting the finished video material on Youtube for everyone in the internet world to discover that there's so much more they can do on their own.

It's about time the major labels give them a close look and seriously consider them for a sign-up; for it's only a matter of time till their mainstream popular music talent goes all the way to the bank.
